Jack has been an enthusiastic and active member of the Greater Birmingham Association of Home Builders serving as Parade of Homes Chairman, Land Developers and President in 2002. He is also involved at the national level serving on the National Regulatory Homebuilders Commission. As Birmingham has grown and prospered, so has J. Harris Development. Headquarters of the company were moved this past year from Pelham to the downtown Birmingham business district with the purchase and complete renovation of the historic Harris building located at 115 21^st Street North. The building was designed to house the many new employees that have recently joined the J. Harris team, an interior design center where homeowners can make decorator and product selections, and an employee training facility. Additionally, the newly formed J. Harris Real Estate Company is working out of the J. Harris building assisting J. Harris communities and on site sales associates and at the same time working with buyers and sellers of existing homes in the Birmingham area.

The company was recognized in March 2006, by the Birmingham Business Journal, as the second fastest growing mid-sized company in the metropolitan area. Recognition of this nature comes as a result of the accomplishments achieved by a highly regarded J. Harris executive staff, which consists of seasoned professionals.
